Web developer here. Most probably photoshopped. He would have to make a request on the database and return the name of the one with password that must be a unique field. And design a field with a string containing "this password is already taken by..." To much work to be an error and this is too stupid to be intentional.

The real main problem is that the password isn't hashed (ie it's stored as is) . The server shouldn't know the password, only the hash, and when you type a password it only compares hashes
